About
This is a community choir that started in April 2025, as a place to gather and sing, free to all, with no commitment required. Just music and community! We call it Quoir because we are very inclusive and largely (but not all) Queer.
I’ve been a private music teacher for 20 years, and I’m ready to break out of the one-on-one format, and bring more groups together to make music. Especially the lapsed singers and musicians, the ones who miss it dearly, but just haven’t found the right setting. And the total beginners. And the experts! I always do a warmup, usually integrated with a bit of singing technique. And 2-3 other musicians often join me on bass, keys, guitar, or percussion.
We're drawn to music that's positive, uplifting, and beautiful. Check out some video below!

The Vibe
I try to keep it light and fun. I often check-in to see how it’s going, and am more than happy to teach and reteach a part as much as needed. This is about joy, not pressure. Expression, not competition.
Origin Story
Over 20 years of teaching private music lessons, I’ve become profoundly aware of the limitations of playing music alone. Before the prevalence of recorded music, it was almost always played in groups! It’s been passed down socially throughout the ages of human culture. But today, for most people, playing an instrument or singing means taking expensive private lessons, or struggling in front of a YouTube tutorial. And it rarely ever goes beyond that because for most people, playing music alone is stifling and limited. And playing and singing with others is life-affirming, and so much fun!
That’s why I decided to start my own choir. I don’t charge money, because I want it to feel like a genuine community, not a business venture. And I don’t want people to feel like they have to commit--just come and sing when you can.
